Parents of student athletes interested in trying out for Middle School Baseball and Softball:
Information for both:
1 – All participants must have required paperwork turned in before they can participate in any capacity!!!
– Up to date physical (note- physicals are good for 13 months from the date issued)(second note, school physicals do count for athletics, but athletic physicals do not count for K,6,9th grade requirements)
– Copy of Health Insurance or Medical Card
– Completed School Insurance form
– Completed Concussion Form
– GCMS Medical Release Form
2- Athletic Fees are paid.
– We will collect fees for all participants who make the team. This means the $50 Athletic Fee will need to be in hand the day of the first official practice after the team is selected. We DO NOT want all tryout participants turning in fees. If a student qualifies for Free and Reduced Lunch fees are waived.
3- Tryout Participation:
– Any student athlete that wants to participate in a sport must be present for tryouts in order to make the team.
– Both teams will have 18 player rosters as is dictated by the IESA, our governing body.
– Teams will be made up of 6th – 8th graders according to coaches discretion.
– 24 hour rule is in place for all parents when it comes to contacting coaches. If you have a concern or question we encourage you, and more importantly your student to reach out and communicate with coaches, but please do so by appointment and with a declared purpose.
Softball tryouts July 27th – July 30th High School Field (weather permitting)
Baseball tryouts August 3rd – 6th Middle School Field (weather permitting)
** Come to the Middle School in case of inclement weather.
Finally- Paperwork can be copied and turned into the middle school office on the following dates and times:
Thursday, July 23rd 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Monday July 27th 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
Tuesday July 28th 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
August 3rd and 4th 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Note – the parking lot and building are experiencing summer maintenance so please be cautious entering and leaving the facility!
