The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Elementary School is a Pre-K-5 facility located at 902 N. The Elementary students day begins at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 3:18 p.m.  Kindergarten consists of 5 full-day sections.  There are four sections of grades 1-5.  Section numbers vary based on grade enrollment.  The average number of students in each class is 19 for the 2015-16 school year.

The education of students in the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Elementary School covers all major curricular areas.  In addition, students in grades K-5 receive daily 30-minute physical education classes, 30-minute general music classes twice each week, one 30 minute library class, one 30 minute computer class and one 30 minute art class each week.  Instrumental music is offered beginning in fifth grade.   Each of the special area classes has a curricular area specialist who instructs the classes.

Response to Intervention lessons are available to GCMS Elementary students in reading and math.

The GCMS district is a member of the Ford County Special Education Co-op. In addition to 6 special education teachers and a social worker who are in the building daily, the special education co-op provides a speech pathologist, a school psychologist, a physical therapist and an occupational therapist.
