Happy October!  I wanted to inform you of some upcoming road closures that will affect the middle school students for several weeks.  Starting on Tuesday, October 9th parts of both Melvin St. and 19th St. will be closed for Gibson Area Hospital construction.  This will not effect the regular school day, but will affect both drop off and pick up of your students.

First, all students who walk should stay clear of this area, and use the sidewalk that splits the property between the baseball fields.  This will ensure safe passage to and from school.

Second, all morning bus riders will ride the buses as they always do.  The buses will gather at the elementary school and load students on to select buses for transport to the middle school.  This will allow for less bus traffic around the middle school in the morning time.  Parents should still drop their kids off at the main entrance like normal.

Third, all afternoon bus riders will be released at first bell (3:18) to get on one of the 4 buses at the middle school.  The students who ride those buses will stay on them, and students who ride the other 5 buses will get off at the elementary school and load the appropriate bus.

Finally, if you pick up and drop off your student please be very cautious and patient around the school to ensure all students safety.  The south parking lot ONLY should be used for picking up and dropping off.  This will allow the east lot to be used by the buses.

If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me via email [email protected], or phone 217-784-8731.  Thanks for your help and patience.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Darnell
Principal
