8th Grade Promotion

8th Grade Students and Families:

Many questions have come up in recent days about 8th Grade Promotion, I will do my best to address as many questions as possible.  If you questions are not answered here please contact me via email at [email protected].

Dress:
This is not a formal event in the sense of wearing a suit or formal dress.  Summer dresses, nice shorts, jeans, are all appropriate.  Students can come in what they are comfortable in.  When asked I tell kids to where what they are comfortable in, but remember you will be walking in front of 500 people.

Time:
The Promotion starts at 9:30 and we will not open the doors for entry until 9:00.  Please do not arrive before that time.  We need to have the gym and halls empty for the other students in the building and preparation for the ceremony.

End Time:
The event will be over by 10:15 and all families (including 8th grade students) will need to be cleared of the building by 10:45 to allow for the other classes to have their lunches.

Pictures:
VSI Studios will be taking pictures before the ceremony and those pictures will need to be picked up at VSI after July 1st.

Attendance and seating:
There is no restriction on the number of family that can attend for students.  Chairs that are located behind the student section are reserved for those unable to climb bleachers!

Final Note:

Everyone will be excited for their students.  I ask that everyone hold individual applause when names are being read to respect the students that follow, and that everyone remain seated until the ceremony is complete and the students have exited the gym.  8th grade promotion is simply a step in our students educational process.  Be proud of the moment, but expect more!

Sincerely,

Mr. Darnell
