Distinguished Alumni Award

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School will be honoring the inaugural recipients of the Districts newly established Distinguished Alumni Award during halftime of the boys’ basketball game vs. Eureka on February 9, 2018. The purpose of the Distinguished Alumni program is to recognize GCMS alumni who have made significant contributions to society, and whose accomplishments, affiliations, and careers have honored the legacy of excellence of Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley District #5. The Distinguished Alumni Award does more than honor its recipients, it also further illustrates the great value of the academic programs, remind faculty of the potential each student has to make to the community, and increases the pride all alumni, students, staff and faculty have for our school. These individuals exemplify the ideals of the GCMS school district and the communities it serves, and should be held as role models for current and future GCMS students. Their careers and achievements honor and sustain the legacy of excellence that is GCMS schools.
 
The inaugural recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award are Leslie Arends and Royce Forman.
Leslie ArendsMr. Arends was a United States Congressman who graduated from Melvin High School (1912) and Mr. Forman was a structural engineer for more than forty years at NASA and graduated from Drummer Township High School (1949). Royce FormanThe evening is being sponsored by the GCMS Education Foundation. A chili supper will kick off the evening at 5:00 in the HS cafeteria and be available to all guests at a cost of $5.00 per person.
