High School Student of the Month - January 2018

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School’s student of the month for January, Clayton A. Bane, poses with literature teacher Erica Kostoff, right, who nominated him for the award, and Jana Friday of the Bank of Gibson City, which sponsors the monthly award. Bane, the son of Brian and Melissa Bane of Gibson City, is a senior at GCMS High School. He has been active in Boy Scouts, the high school’s Red Army student-cheering section, the school’s FFA chapter and the school’s golf team. He also is a member of the cheerleading squad, portraying Fergie the Falcon at sporting events. As a freshman, he served as freshman class treasurer. Among his awards received during high school are being named an Eagle Scout, the golf team’s most valuable player both his junior and senior years, golf impact player as a senior, junior English student of the year and a four-year varsity golf letterman. Outside of school, Bane volunteers for the local food pantry, recycling program and Gibson City Lions Club breakfast. His future plans include a career in marketing and sales.
